Chapter One :Chapter 1

This is the first day Xia Wanwan woke up. She, who was supposed to appear in the morgue, unexpectedly found herself in the newlywed house she shared with Tan Yan.

She woke up, caressed her flat stomach, and glanced at her naive self on her ID card, Xia Wanwan felt somewhat dazed. When she raised her head to scan her surroundings, seeing the marriage certificate in the corner, tears she could no longer hold back fell slowly.

Indeed, she remembered. This was the first month of her marriage with Tan Yan, but she had been married to him for five years. In those five years, she bore him a daughter named Tan Rou. The name Rou was picked by Tan Yan himself. He said it symbolized a woman's gentleness, causing her to joyously believe that he loved their daughter. However, she later realized that the gentle woman he spoke of referred to another person, and both the daughter and she were merely substitutes for his real love.

For five years, she invested all her energy in Tan Yan. She had often wondered why such a perfect and outstanding man would fancy an ordinary woman like herself. However, for the sake of love, she was willing to ignore it, after all, she was Mrs Tan, right?

But, when she was pregnant with their second child five years later, Tan Yan finally brought a gentle and reserved woman home. He said her name was Fu Jingyu and that she had always been the love of his life.

Being eight months pregnant and witnessing all this, Xia Wanwan responded, smiling, "I'll make dinner."

However, his eyes were cold and cruel as he addressed her departing silhouette, "Xia Wanwan, let's divorce. Jingyu is pregnant, and I want to give her a home."

Give her a home? The basin in Xia Wanwan's hands slipped and fell to the floor with a bang. She slowly turned around, seeing the handsome Tan Yan in his suit, then the woman tightly holding his hand, wearing a diamond ring on her finger. Her heart ached. When she heard her daughter's call from upstairs, she wiped the tears that were unknowingly falling and said, "Our daughter is crying. I'll go check on her."

"Xia Wanwan." Tan Yan's icy voice came from behind her. She froze as he continued, "Abort the baby. Take Tan Rou and leave. I'll give you a sum of money to make sure you have no financial needs for the rest of your lives."

Xia Wanwan bit her lips and clenched her fists. She was afraid to turn around for fear of losing control. She was suppressing her feelings when Tan Rou heard the voices and ran out. Seeing the situation, she innocently exclaimed, "Daddy..."

The word "daddy" brought a wave of bitterness to Xia Wanwan. She opened her mouth and said, "Little Rou, go to your room. Mommy and Daddy have something to discuss."

"You're Little Rou?" As soon as Xia Wanwan finished speaking, Fu Jingyu smiled at Tan Rou, then took a box of chocolates out of her bag, saying, "Come here, Auntie has some snacks for you."

Children are innocent. Four-year-old Tan Rou knew nothing and naturally went for the food. Xia Wanwan cried out in alarm, "No, Little Rou!"

She was standing on the stairs, intending to stop Tan Rou, but she just turned around when she lost her balance and fell down the stairs in her heavily pregnant state. The repetitive sounds of her tumble echoed as her head hit against the floor and her body rolled down the stairs. The pain seemed to come from every corner of her body as she crashed into the corner, finally stopping.

However... the throbbing pain in her lower abdomen distracted her from her physical discomfort. She clenched her teeth, feeling the warm liquid flowing from her thighs. She panicked and looked at Tan Yan, stretching out a bloody hand, sobbing, "Save... the baby..."

He was like a spectating stranger to his wife of five years, leaving her mind blank. The hand she stretched out slowly retracted, and the pain in her body at that moment seemed negligible. Seeing Fu Jingyu standing next to him, smiling beautifully. When she saw Tan Rou's frightened and innocent eyes, she let the tears roll down her face and slowly rose against a nearby column.

"If you didn't like me, you shouldn't have taken away five years of my youth, you shouldn't have... allowed me to give birth to Little Rou..."
